Licensing Issues

3D FTG is a technology that came to the Mining and Oil & Gas industries from the US Navy through the Dual Use Initiative. As such this technology is still covered under International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR) Licensing Restrictions (22.CFR121.1). The following Website: http://www.pmddtc.state.gov/country.htm lists currently embargoed countries and provides a pretty good indication of where it would be difficult to obtain a license. Bell Geospace has attempted to secure licenses for the most likely countries for oil & gas and mining exploration, and will not send data to a client in an unlicensed country. In the case of overseas offices or 3rd party consultants or interpreters, before any data is sent to a foreign country it is the responsibility of the licensee to insure that a valid export license exists for FTG data. This process takes from 3 to 6 months so early planning is important.
