Operations Field Technician, Various Survey Locations, Month On/Month Off

Job Description:


Bell Geospace, a worldwide airborne geophysics company with offices in Houston, Texas and Edinburgh, Scotland has an immediate opening for Operations Technicians. The position is based on a nominal month on / month off schedule in the field with assignments throughout the world. Daily operations consist of survey work from a modified DC3 aircraft mobilized to the survey location. Successful candidates would work out of local accommodations and oversee data acquisition, processing, troubleshooting and reporting, as part of a 5-6 man crew.

Job Responsibilities:

  • International travel with many long international flights and the ability to adapt to different cultures and time zones.
  • Operating and maintaining airborne geophysical equipment
  • Field processing geophysical data
  • Assuring maximum efficiency and quality of data acquisition
  • Maintaining and submitting daily field logs.
  • Assisting in the logistics of equipment mobilization/demobilization

Education and Experience:

  • Related 4 year degree is preferred but extensive related experience will be considered
  • 3-5 years of technical field work including international travel. Geoscience and or survey background is a plus.

Skills:

  • Working in a team environment with minimal supervision
  • Adaptive problem solving while working in foreign cultures
  • Mechanical and electrical aptitude
  • Ability to follow detailed instructions while operating equipment
  • Strong Computer Skills including software proficiency in Microsoft Office with Geosoft experience a plus

Airborne Geophysics Project Manager, Edinburgh/Houston, Full Time.

Bell Geospace has an immediate opening for a Project Manager for airborne geophysics survey projects. The responsibilities include liaising with the clients and sales on initial survey design, oversight of data acquisition, performing initial processing and quality control procedures on geophysical data, client updates and reporting throughout acquisition, and coordination of project delivery and demobilization. This role will involve working closely with the sales team, operations and the geoscience team.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Collaboration as part of a team of Project Managers each responsible for an individual geophysical survey project from plan to delivery
  • Coordination with sales to generate geophysical survey plans including coordinate projections, line plans, terrain models, and feasibility studies from client data
  • Coordination with operations team to generate acquisition plan, assess project feasibility, and communicate all contract requirements
  • Coordination with geoscience team to ensure that the interpretation is executed and delivered as planned
  • Scheduling and directing internal and external project setup meetings across departments
  • Single point of contact for internal and external communication during project setup and acquisition
  • Ownership of daily quality control of survey data during acquisition
  • Ownership of daily client reporting during acquisition
  • Responsible for handover from operations and acquisition to processing, interpretation, and delivery
  • Responsible for insuring that the final project is delivered on time and specs to the client. The main point of contact for the client throughout the project.
  • Responsible for proper storage and archiving of project data upon delivery
  • Occasional travel to conference and trade shows when required.

Requirements and Skills:

  • Requirement of BSc in a geoscience or related field with 2 years experience
  • Local to Edinburgh area preferred
  • Geophysics background including data processing and interpretation
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills on technical subjects
  • Able to multitask, prioritize, and problem solve while managing people and resources
  • Requires strong competency or propensity for geophysical processing software (Oasis strongly preferred), GIS (Geographic Information Systems), and command line scripting.
  • Strong general computer skills including coordination and communication through project management software and proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite
